M-Logies restores a historic flax retting site using recuperated materials and ecological techniques. We protect traditional craftsmanship and agricultural legacy through sustainable building, preserving the past while shaping a greener future rooted in heritage and care.
The historical building is nestled in the heart of the West-Flanders and a short drive from Ypres, Lille and Bruges.
It is located in a 20th-century flax factory with well-designed units, which all offer a splendid view. A peaceful retreat place.
Transforming this old industrial building presents a unique challenge, requiring careful consideration of concept, environmental impact, technical needs, and architectural integrity.
Our daily focus is on creating a lovely renovation by reusing existing structures and recycling materials. This project aims to breathe new life into the factory while preserving its rich heritage.

At M-Logies, we believe that true sustainability begins with what already exists. Our renovation journey was guided by the principles of circular construction and a zero-waste mindset, where every material was seen not as debris, but as potential
.
Instead of tearing down, we chose to preserve and repurpose. Original bricks were carefully cleaned and reused, maintaining the soul of the building while reducing environmental impact. The roof beams were reinforced for safety, yet left exposed to showcase the authentic iron structure, a tribute to traditional craftsmanship.
The chimney shaft was rebuilt with a fresh base, blending old-world charm with modern integrity. The concrete walls were cleaned, strengthened, and retained, proving that durability and design can go hand in hand.
The flax factory Decruyenaere - De Brabandere was built in 1942. The flax industry disappeared through the competition with synthetic fibers. In 1969 the activity of the flax factory ended.
Today you can enjoy a sophisticated restoration where every detail has been carefully considered. The project is based on the specific characteristics of rural areas, open spaces and contact with nature and heritage.
